I do feel that comparatively he is certainly presented as a different person to the one I imagined whilst reading Odysseus and the Iliad.
I do think he's reformed from his punishment in the game. He was always viewed as a villain and a cautionary tale. This dichotomy, and the dichotomy of human perseverance and it's philosophical ramifications come up in Enlightenment philosophers' work.įor someone unfamiliar with the myth prior to this game, discovering how horrid he actually was would be jarring! Whilst he had a great capacity for cunning in the myth, he was never depicted as being friendly or helpful by the ancient writers. Is he in it for the long-con? Has he generally changed? It really depends on your personal view on the value of punishment and reform. You would equally be able to assert that his punishment has reformed his character. The game's writers have your antagonist vilify him whilst selecting a very disarming voice actor, personality and making him beneficial to your runs in game!
